FARM WALK REVIEW BY MIKE ABRAM.
BASE-UK Member James Bucher hosted a farm walk for members on 23rd May 2024 at his farm in Suffolk.
James and his farm manager, Sam Baker showed a variety of crops and activities being undertaken on the farm including a legume lay, a wheat blend, a wheat/bean bi-crop grown for Wildfarmed, an osr/clover bi-crop and a winter oat crop within an agroforestry situation.

They explained that these crops have received a maximum of 60 kgs of nitrogen, with no fungicides, insecticides or PGRs applied (as per the farm’s regen policy since 2021).
They also demonstrated different composting techniques using Johnson-Su or worms and ways to apply the product (in their case via a liquid applicator on their Horsch Avatar drill and also on their Grange low-disturbance sub-soiler).

Thanks to James and Sam for hosting this interesting and educational farm walk and we look forward to seeing how the farm progresses in the future.
