The Committee have a fantastic line up of speakers for the AGM Conference next year, including Dr Sam Cook from Rothamsted who missed speaking to us in 2020 due to illness; Dr Jackie Stroud who has returned from Australia to work at SRUC; Professor Christine Watson also from SRUC and Professor Richard Bardgett from Manchester University and author of “Earth Matters”.  We also have some of our own members – John Hawkins, Ian Gould, David Aglen, Tom Sewell (SFOY 2021) who have agreed to share their experiences. 

TO BOOK YOUR CONFERENCE TICKET: Please email with your name and the days you will be attending and whether you will stay for dinner on Tuesday evening – along with your dinner menu choices.  Please advise if you have any dietary requirements or allergies, we need to be aware of.

The cost for attending the conference is: 

BASE-UK Members        One day *£85                  Both days £140 

Non-Members                One day *£170                Both days £300 

 *This includes the cost of dinner if required.  There is no discount for not having dinner. 

If you would like to bring a wife/husband/partner to dinner only (not attending the conference) the cost is £39/head.  Please provide name and dinner selections.

ACCOMMODATION: If you require B&B, please ensure you book your own bedroom by one of the following methods. (You need to contact Rebecca to book your conference place – please do not forget!).  By booking directly you will receive the preferential rate of £95/room/night for single occupancy and free parking under the hotel which is normally £15/night.  Please do not book via 3rd party internet groups as you will not show on the BASE-UK booking list and may not benefit from the same offer we have been given.

Travel Information: Please note, to get to the hotel car park, please use the postcode NG1 5FW in your Satnav, not the hotel’s postcode.  There is access from the car park into the hotel.

The nearest train station is Nottingham which is approximately 15 minutes’ walk from the hotel or there are 2 trams heading for the city center.  Get off at Royal Centre Stop (3 stops from the station).

The nearest airport is East Midlands.  There is a bus service (Sky Link) from the airport to Nottingham.

A full program will be available in due course but so you can plan your travel times: 

·       Tuesday 8th February - registration from 9.00 am with the first speaker at 10.00 am.  

 ·       Wednesday 9th February - registration will be from 8.30 am with the AGM starting at 9.30 am.  

The event will close at around 4.30 pm on Wednesday.
